Hi, I’m Steven Barton. In 1995 Susan and I made the decision to open a financial planning practise. Prior to this I had worked for New Zealand’s largest Agricultural Servicing Company, a Specialist Seed Treatment Company, and an American owned Agricultural Chemicals company where I was the International Sales and Marketing Manager. While working for the Americans I developed a strong interest in personal financial management and undertook extramural university studies. I completed these once we opened our business.

Over the years, we have learnt a lot, especially how a number of firms treat their clients. They often push their own in-house or semi exclusive products which have an abysmal history of being investment failures, or they charge exorbitant fees as well as receiving commissions. More often than not, they will do both.

We believe that there is a much better way to do business. Clients deserve much better. That is why we made the decision to be an independently owned boutique investment advisory business. Our business is fee based. We utilise research, our own skills, a strategic mentor, as well as support network of likeminded peer advisers.

Our independence and the ability to interpret research and translate that into a successful workable form within our portfolios are just some of our strengths. 

Every client is an individual. We spend time getting to know our clients so we can help them achieve their goals. We do not focus just on their investment goals as we like to see clients also achieve their life goals.

We believe in having a good work/life balance. That is why we will only work with a select group of clients. We need to ensure a balance, so that we can perform at a high level for our clients for many years to come.
