Welcome to your financial future with Pascoe Barton Limited
Welcome to the Pascoe Barton website. If you are a new visitor and here to find out more about us, that’s great. Of course, this website is designed to cater for existing clients, potential clients, and for those that just want some information. Whatever your reason for visiting we are sure you will find something of interest.
Who are we?
Pascoe Barton was established by the directors, Susan Pascoe Barton and Steven Barton, in May 1995. We offer Independent Investment Advice. We are one of the few independently owned financial planning and investment advisory businesses operating in New Zealand. We are a privately owned boutique financial planning business specialising in investment advice and portfolio management. All shares in Pascoe Barton Limited are beneficially owned by interests associated with the directors Steven Barton and Susan Pascoe Barton.
We have a reputation in the industry of being fiercely independent with no ties to any provider. Investments used within portfolios have to stack up on their own merits. We are innovators, being the first users in New Zealand of several very successful investments introduced onto the market place. We were also one of the first financial planning companies in New Zealand to have all portfolio management clients’ investments held on a Wrap account platform. A Wrap account is a combined administration and investment service. It’s a system, rather than a product, that provides access to a range of funds, shares, bonds and other investments.
In 2006, we were judged one of three Northern Region (Taupo North) finalists in the Financial Alert 2005 Practice of the Year Competition.
While we are based in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, our clients are from throughout New Zealand, especially the Manawatu. Distance is not an obstacle and electronic communication is easy and readily available for most investors.
Realistically the one big thing that our clients miss out on is being just a number, which invariably they are, in the corporate owned world of many of our competitors. Our clients are treated as individuals. Our clients deal directly with a Certified Financial Planner who has real world experience, rather than a salesperson, who invariably have a team of Para planners doing most of the work. And of course, we do not have the massive overheads that the corporates have, which is great news for clients, as our fees are invariably more client friendly.

What do we offer?
At Pascoe Barton, we do not try to be everything to everyone; instead we have chosen to focus on our fee based services of financial planning and investment management.

We do not receive commission, trail fees or brokerage. Under our InvestorPro Service’ which is designed for investors with more than $200,000 to invest, any commission that we may have been entitled to receive is credited to our clients’ accounts.

Resources
As we are a privately owned independent boutique advisory business, we make use of a lot of external resources. We also do our own internal research, so as to minimise the risk of being commercially influenced by product providers. We have developed systems to minimise risk exposures to investment issuers.
We subscribe to or receive research from a number of sources. Included amongst them are: Aon, ASB Securities, Craigs Investment Partners, Credit Suisse, Farrelly’s, First NZ Capital, Forsyth Barr, Lonsec, Macquarie Securities, Mercers, Morningstar Research, Russell, Standard & Poor's.
We also regularly write newspaper columns. Our newspaper columns are being updated weekly on this site and can be downloaded by RSS Feed.
